Help keep our community volunteers energized and appreciated this Earth Day! The Prathertown Community Development Corporation is seeking a dedicated Refreshment Manager to support our Earth Day Community Cleanup and Gardening event on the corner of Prathertown and Wightman Road on Saturday, April 25, from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM (weather permitting).
As Refreshment Manager, you’ll coordinate and distribute snacks, water, and donated food items to volunteers throughout the event, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable experience for everyone.
Event Overview
Our Earth Day event brings neighbors together to care for the environment through a community cleanup and sustainable gardening project. Together, we honor Prathertown’s historic legacy , a Gaithersburg neighborhood founded in 1883 by emancipated people, while protecting its natural spaces.
Responsibilities
Set up and organize the refreshment station (tables, coolers, supplies).
Distribute water and light snacks to volunteers during the event.
Monitor supplies, restock as needed, and maintain cleanliness at the station.
Assist with collecting canned food donations for the Earth Day food drive.
Support other event logistics, such as setup and cleanup, when needed.
Communicate with event coordinators about inventory or participant needs.
Requirements
Friendly and helpful attitude, with good communication skills.
Comfort working outdoors for several hours.
Basic organizational skills and attention to hygiene and safety.
Must arrive on site by 11:30 AM to help with setup.
What to Bring
Comfortable clothing suitable for the weather.
Sunscreen, insect repellent, and a reusable water bottle.

Student participation in this service project is at the discretion of the student’s parent/guardian and must be completed outside of school hours in a public space under direct supervision of the nonprofit organization. The nonprofit organization is responsible for maintaining student safety. Parents/guardians should contact the nonprofit directly with any questions and/or concerns.
