SO WHAT ELSE 2026 STUDENT LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE (SLI) for Rising Sixth Through Rising Eighth Graders

Students may only attend 1 of the sessions listed below:
- Session 1 Tues 7/28 - Thurs 7/30 8:45-12:15
- Session 2 Tues 7/28 - Thurs 7/30 1:00-4:30
- Session 3 Tues 8/4 - Thurs 8/6 8:45-12:15
- Session 4 Tues 8/4 - Thurs 8/6 1:00-4:30
In this interactive, fun program, participants will have the opportunity to:
- Develop public speaking, teamwork, and advocacy skills
- Identify their passions, interests, and strengths
- Find ways to give back to our community
- Complete service learning projects for local organizations
- Learn how to become the best leaders they can be!
Campers can earn up to 10 SSL Hours. The Student Leadership Institute will be led by a certified MCPS teacher, So What Else staff and high school co-instructors.
The fee for the Student Leadership Institute is $160. Space is limited - register now!

Please Note:
- Students will only engage with others under the direct supervision of a nonprofit supervisor.
- All activities performed by the student throughout the duration of this service opportunity will be awarded hour-for-hour the amount of time that is being served under direct supervision of our non-profit staff.
Student participation in this service project is at the discretion of the student’s parent/guardian and must be completed outside of school hours. The nonprofit organization is responsible for maintaining student safety. Parents/guardians should contact the nonprofit directly with any questions and/or concerns.
