Girls on the Run of Montgomery County is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating and preparing girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living. The Junior Practice Partner position is open to high school students.
Girls on the Run offers before and after school programs for 3rd through 8th grade girls that promote healthy choices and inspires physical activity. Girls meet twice each week during the 10 week long season (Fall: September-November, Spring: March-May). The weekly lessons prepare the girls physically for a non-competitive 5K (3.1 mile) run, and mentally for various life issues pre-teen girls typically face. Locations, dates, and times vary depending on the school.
Volunteers must commit to attending at least one practice per week for the duration of the 10 week season. Please visit our website for descriptions of these and other volunteer opportunities www.girlsontherunofmoco.org or contact us directly for more information info@girlsontherunofmoco.org.
Junior Practice Partners must complete an online registration and online training (1 hour). Volunteers do not need to be runners, just willing to serve as role-models for their teams. Volunteer assignments are subject to availability, scheduling, and need.
The application deadline for Spring Junior Practice Partners is February 23rd, 2017.
