Volunteers are needed to perform classical Indian, folk and Bollywood-style dances at the annual Hindu celebration of light, Diwali, which recognizes the triumph of good over evil, light over darkness. The festival is a secular event with traditional Indian dance and Indian music performed by professional musicians playing traditional instruments --Ganesh Band and Taag Tang: Ta Thoi. There will be food, vendors, and a storyteller of myth-tales. The festival is sponsored by the Takoma/Langley Crossroads Development Authority, City of Takoma Park, and Prince George’s County. The cultural program is produced by The Hindu Temple of Metropolitan Washington. The festival is free and family-friendly, open to all.
