Help Remove Invasive Plants from Parkland!
Saturday, March 10, 10 am - Noon at Cabin John Local Park
Help protect one of Montgomery County's gems - the Cabin John Local Park. We will be working to remove invasive plants that are outcompeting natives and causing problems for the native wildlife. Meet at the Cabin John Creek trail head near the playground. You'll learn about the local ecology and help the native plants and animals that make this park their home.
What to Bring:
- Wear clothes that can get dirty, and rain gear as necessary.
- Sturdy closed-toe shoes are required (no sandals).
- Bring water to drink.
- You may want to apply bug spray.
- We hope to have have the necessary equipment, but please bring a pair of work gloves and loppers, if you have them.
Who
Everyone!
- Per Montgomery Parks, volunteers under 16 are not permitted to use tools, so if you are under 16, please email the Weed Warrior supervisor ahead of time to see whether they will have meaningful work for you do to.
- Volunteers 14 and under must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
- Volunteers under 10 years may require substantial parent involvement.
Weather:
This program runs rain or shine -- but check the FoCJC website in case of extreme weather (high winds, lightning). If it is raining, please bring rain gear.

This program fulfills community service requirements. We will have MCPS SSL forms available.
