EveryMind’s Homeless Outreach team is partnering with Montgomery County to complete the Up-County Point in Time (PIT) Homeless Count. The Point-in-Time (PIT) count is a count of sheltered and unsheltered homeless persons on a single night. This one night event on January 23, 2019 is quickly approaching and we need 40+ volunteers to make it successful!
Volunteers are provided dinner while they receive training on how to conduct the PIT. Then teams of 2-3, each with a trained leader, canvass the community usually between the hours of about 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. to connect with and count our homeless neighbors. Many volunteers return year after year because the PIT provides the opportunity to engage with some of our community’s most vulnerable members and the results of the Count help determine the level of services the County needs to provide to support them.
If you are interested in participating, please contact Betsy Bowman, Director, Adult and Community Services at bbowman@every-mind.org. All volunteers must preregistered by Monday, January 21, 2019.
