2019 Apply for Title I Summer Program Volunteers for MCPS at Cresthaven Elementary School

We are accepting applications for volunteers for all three Title I summer programs, Extended Learning Opportunities Summer Adventures in Learning (ELO SAIL), Extended Learning Opportunities Summer Title I Enrichment Program (ELO STEP), and the Building Educational Leaders for Life Program (BELLXcel) for Cresthaven Elementary School. You are applying for a specific location.  If you are selected as a volunteer for the location you will be placed in one of the programs detailed below.

 

Open to rising 7th grade students to rising 12th grade students. The times for this volunteer opportunity will be from 9:00-3:30, Monday through Friday, every day from July 1- August 2, 2019. 

 

A mandatory orientation meeting at Cresthaven Elementary School will be on June 27th, time TBD.

Required Steps to Apply:

  1. Please click on the link on this page to "Respond" to this opportunity with student volunteer information.
  2. Please complete all three mandatory forms (including ALL required signatures) and submit them: http://bit.ly/ELOforms
    1. Option A: At one time, submit all 3 completed forms to your school Student Service Learning Coordinator to pony to Dr. Jonathan Ferrari, Rocking Horse Road Center, Room 204) OR
    2. Option B: At one time, scan and send them directly to Dr. Jonathan R. Ferrari at Jonathan_R_Ferrari@mcpsmd.org. Incomplete submissions will not be accepted.

This is a FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE process based off of when the forms are received. 

 

All applicants will get an email response after May 17th to let you know whether or not you have been selected. Applicants who are selected will be emailed a link to an additional form and an emergency card to complete.

  • Breakfast and lunch will be provided along with transportation from cluster locations. 
  • It is the parent's responsibility to get their child to and from the cluster location on time for the bus. 
  • Students will be asked to have their phones turned off while they are volunteering as they will be assisting students with literacy and math skills.

ELO STEP

Extended Learning Opportunities Summer Title I Enrichment Program (ELO STEP) invites select students entering grades 3-5 for the 2019-2020 school year in Title I schools. ELO STEP is an enrichment opportunity for traditionally undeserved students to have increased access to advanced programming. The program implements rigorous STEM instruction to nurture critical and creative thinking skills.

 

BELLXCel

The Building Educational Leaders for Life (BELL) program invites select students entering grades 3-5 for the 2019-2020 school year in Title I schools. The mornings focus around literacy and math and the afternoons focuses on hands-on enrichment activities with Friday schedules offering educational field trips.
