Learn effective strategies for working with older adults and plan interactive programs based on older adults' interests and yours. Student volunteers will convene to learn basic principles of aging and best practices for encouraging social and cognitive stimulation with older adult residents in assisted living. Students will then implement programs one Sunday a month at Charles E. Smith Life Communities Ring House in Rockville. Examples of programs include music and memory, teaching technology skills (show off your Smartphone and App skills), art, and dance. Students are strongly encouraged to participate in the training session prior to the interactive activities with the older adults. Students must be able to get to sessions on their own.
