Project Linus (www.projectlinus.org) is a non-profit organization dedicated to donating handmade blankets for newborn to 18-year-old children in need of comfort. Its primary mission is to provide love, a sense of security, warmth, and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need.
The Montgomery County Chapter of Project Linus (see our Facebook page) delivers blankets to several organizations in the county that serve children in need of comfort (two family shelters, Shady Grove Hospital, Holy Cross Germantown Hospital, and the county's Child Welfare Program, among others). We will be making a special delivery of blankets on October 31 to Children's Hospital in DC -- the blankets will be the patients' Halloween treats (since they can't eat the usual candy treats).
We are having an event during Montgomery County's Service Month to make fleece blankets for children. We will provide the fleece and all other supplies, and volunteers will show you how to make the blankets and get you started. We need extra hands to make enough blankets for Children's Hospital, so please plan to join us!
