Overview
The Washington Conservatory of Music has openings for Summer Camp Assistants for programs for children ages 4-12 at Glen Echo Park. Volunteers support highly-qualified, experienced faculty as they lead and assist children in engaging activities while earning SSL credit and gaining valuable experience.
The following camps will be offered this summer:
• Fun with Music and Movement (Ages 4-7), Jun 22-26
• Pop Songs for Young Voices (Ages 4-7), Jun 29-Jul 3
• Little Prince & Princess Singers (ages 4-7), Jul 6-10
• Drumset and Percussion (Ages 7-11), Jul 13-17
• Meet the Instruments (Ages 5-9), Jul 20-24
• Around the World Music (Ages 4-7), Jul 27-31
• Kids Who Sing! (Ages 7-12), Aug 3-7
• Little Star Violin (Ages 4 and 5), Aug 10-14
• Little Star Violin (Ages 6 and 7), Aug 17-21

Eligibility
• Volunteers must be 14 years or older
• Volunteers need to be available 8:45 am – 3:15 pm for the entire week of the assigned camp
• Violin camp volunteers must be violinists. Singing camp volunteers must have singing experience. Other camps require experience in any instrumental or voice area.
• Prior experience working with children is preferred but not required
Duties are based on camp assignments and may include:
• Assist camp faculty as directed
• Supervise camp participants in a safe environment
• Morning and end-of-camp set-up/reset of facilities
• Manage check-in/check-out procedures
• Oversee or assist music, crafts, lunch, play, and cleanup activities
• Assist with music rehearsals and final camp performance
• Listen and respond courteously to camp participants, parents and faculty
• Other duties as assigned
Application schedule and dates
We will start interviewing finalists the first week of April, and will continue accepting applications until all positions are filled.
Previous volunteers or WCM students may be accepted without interview, upon recommendation of camp faculty.
All applicants will be notified of their application status.
