Join us by running or walking a 5K on July 4, wherever you are, to show your support for people with autism. Your fundraising efforts will empower our work to promote solutions for the needs of people with autism and their families – including those in urgent need of resources right now – and fuel our continued commitment to create a kinder, more inclusive world for people with autism.
This year, we’re celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Autism Speaks 5K, which started with an amazing group of volunteers in Potomac, MD. To commemorate this milestone, we are taking the event from neighborhood to nationwide by inviting everyone across the country to join together (virtually) to increase understanding and acceptance for people with autism and their families while raising raise funds for Autism Speaks.
Volunteers can get involved virtually by being social media champions by creating 2 flyers/social media graphics that our organization can use after the race to thank our runners and sponsors for their support!
For students interested in earning SSL hours, successful completion and submission of two flyers/social media graphics will earn 2 SSL hours. Please do not include any pictures or images of yourself, or any personal information (such as your name, email address, phone number, etc.) in your flyer or social media graphic.
Student participation in this service project is at the discretion of the student’s parent/guardian. The nonprofit organization is responsible for maintaining student safety and privacy. The nonprofit organization will determine the number of SSL hours awarded based on the evidence submitted. Parents/guardians should contact the nonprofit directly with any questions and/or concerns. This service activity is designed to be completed within the safety of the student’s home until schools resume normal status.
