The Volunteer Center and Office of Community Partnerships are working with Montgomery County's Health Department and a broad network of community organizations to ensure all in our community receive facts about the safety and importance of receiving the COVID-19 vaccination, information about how to get a County Health Clinic vaccine appointment, and assistance with the process for those who need help. We want to get the ENTIRE County vaccinated!
Background:
COVID-19 has disproportionately affected certain communities within Montgomery County. At the same time, these areas where COVID-19 rates are the highest are where vaccination rates are the lowest. Barriers include technology, hesitancy, limited English proficiency, isolation, and disinformation or conflicting messaging. That's why in-person outreach is needed to educate/provide information to residents in underserved communities on the vaccine process and pre-registration for appointments at County Health Clinics.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Community Ambassador volunteers will conduct this critical outreach at County supported community events such as food distributions. The goal is to encourage everyone Vaccine Ambassadors meet to get the COVID-19 vaccine, understand the vaccination process, and pre-register for vaccine appointments at County Health Clinics. Bilingual volunteers are critical in our efforts to serve the entire community, so language skills are a plus! To ensure safe interactions at events, staff will practice social distancing, wear masks, use hand sanitizer, and rely on posters with QR codes.
Specific duties may include:
- Sharing vaccine information and resources with residents
- Answering vaccine-related questions
- Hosting vaccination information tables
- Distributing COVID kits
- Offering pre-registration, appointment, and other assistance
Bilingual English and Spanish, French, Vietnamese, or Amharic most needed!
