Community Ambassadors Needed for Door-to-Door Canvassing Vaccine Pre-Registration Event starting at Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Rockville.
On Saturday April 24, from 10:00am - 2pm, the County will be hosting a Door-to-Door Canvassing COVID-19 Vaccine Pre-registration Event starting at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 608 North Horners Lane, Rockville, MD 20850. Volunteers arrive at 9:00am, get a brief orientation, receive a map of assigned neighborhood addresses, and take off in teams of at least 2 to knock on doors and offer pre-registration assistance on County tablets for vaccination appointments at County Health Clinics.
Our goal is to encourage everyone to get the COVID-19 vaccine by going door-to-door in an underserved community to provide information, answer vaccine-related questions, distribute materials, and offer County Health Clinic pre-registration assistance right then and there. To ensure safe interactions, volunteers will practice social distancing, wear masks, use hand sanitizer, and rely on materials with QR codes. We are looking for a total of 15 volunteers specifically for this opportunity. Speaking Spanish is a plus!
Background:
Covid has disproportionately affected certain communities within Montgomery County. At the same time, these areas are where Covid rates are the highest and where vaccination rates are the lowest. Barriers include technology, hesitancy, limited English proficiency, isolation, and disinformation or conflicting messaging. That's why in-person outreach in underserved communities is needed to inform residents and assist them with the vaccine process at County Health Clinics. We need to get the ENTIRE County vaccinated!

1) If you have not yet attended one required Zoom Information Session, please sign up by going to our Vaccine volunteers web page under "Resources for Community Ambassador Volunteers".
2) After you attend the Information Session, update the "Qualifications" section of your Volunteer Center account. Instructions are here. NOTE: This system will not allow you to register for any outreach event without completing steps 1) and 2).
