Spanish Speaking Community Ambassadors Needed to Staff Vaccine Information & Pre-Registration Event at MidCounty United Ministries Food Distribution Event at Pepper Tree Farm Apartments in Silver Spring
On Sunday April 25, from 2pm - 4pm, the County will be hosting a COVID-19 Vaccine Information & Pre-registration Event at MidCounty United Ministries Food Distribution Event at Pepper Tree Farm Apartments,14120 Weeping Willow Dr, Silver Spring, MD 20906. Volunteers arrive at 1:30 pm.
Our goal is to encourage everyone we meet to get the COVID-19 vaccine by hosting vaccination information tables, answering vaccine-related questions, distributing COVID kits, and offering County Health Clinic pre-registration assistance. To ensure safe interactions, staff will practice social distancing, wear masks, use hand sanitizer, and rely on posters with QR codes. We are looking for a total of 3 Spanish speaking volunteers specifically for this opportunity.
Background:
Covid has disproportionately affected certain communities within Montgomery County. At the same time, these areas where Covid rates are the highest are where vaccination rates are the lowest. Barriers include technology, hesitancy, limited English proficiency, isolation, and disinformation or conflicting messaging. That's why in-person outreach in underserved communities is needed to inform residents and assist them with the vaccine process at County Health Clinics. We need to get the ENTIRE County vaccinated!
To Volunteer:
1) If you have not yet attended one required Zoom Information Session, please sign up by going to our Vaccine volunteers web page under "Resources for Community Ambassador Volunteers".
2) After you attend the Information Session, update the "Qualifications" section of your Volunteer Center account. Instructions are here. NOTE: This system will not allow you to register for any outreach event without completing steps 1) and 2).
