Fluent Spanish Speaking Community Ambassadors Needed to Staff Vaccine Appointment Making Event at Crossroads Farmers Market in Takoma Park, MD
On Wednesday May 5, from 10:30am - 2:30pm, the County will be hosting a COVID-19 Vaccine Appointment Making Event at Crossroads Farmers Market, Anne St. at University Blvd. East, Takoma Park, MD 20912. Volunteers arrive at 10:00am.
Our goal is to encourage everyone we meet to get the COVID-19 vaccine by making appointments at County Health clinics, answering vaccine-related questions, and distributing COVID kits. To ensure safe interactions, staff will practice social distancing, wear masks, use hand sanitizer, and rely on posters with QR codes. We are looking for a total of 3 Fluent Spanish speaking volunteers specifically for this opportunity. (Please Note: At this particular event, all attendees are likely to speak Spanish only.)
Background:
Covid has disproportionately affected certain communities within Montgomery County. At the same time, these areas where Covid rates are the highest are where vaccination rates are the lowest. Barriers include technology, hesitancy, limited English proficiency, isolation, and disinformation or conflicting messaging. That's why in-person outreach in underserved communities is needed to inform residents and assist them with the vaccine process at County Health Clinics. We need to get the ENTIRE County vaccinated!
To Volunteer:
1) If you have not yet attended one required Zoom Information Session, please sign up by going to our Vaccine volunteers web page under "Resources for Community Ambassador Volunteers".
2) After you attend the Information Session, update the "Qualifications" section of your Volunteer Center account. Instructions are here. NOTE: This system will not allow you to register for any outreach event without completing steps 1) and 2).
