Spanish Speaking Community Ambassadors Needed to Make Appointments and Promote Next-Day Vaccination Clinic in Silver Spring
On Tuesday, May 11, from 3:30pm - 6:30pm, the County will be hosting a COVID-19 Vaccine Appointment Making Pop-Up Tent Event, Briggs Chaney Shopping Center/Global Foods,13807 Outlet Dr., Silver Spring, MD 20904. Volunteers will promote and make appointments for a next-day vaccination clinic at a nearby site on Briggs Chaney Road.
Our goal is to encourage close-by residents to get vaccinated at a convenient next-day FEMA mobile clinic, provide information, and answer vaccine-related questions. To ensure safe interactions, staff will practice social distancing, wear masks, use hand sanitizer, and rely on materials with QR codes. We are looking for a total of 2 volunteers who speak Spanish to join our team.

Background:
Covid has disproportionately affected certain communities within Montgomery County. At the same time, these areas where Covid rates are the highest are where vaccination rates are the lowest. Barriers include technology, hesitancy, limited English proficiency, isolation, and disinformation or conflicting messaging. That's why in-person outreach in underserved communities is needed to inform residents and assist them with the vaccine process at County Health Clinics. We need to get the ENTIRE County vaccinated!
To Volunteer:
1) If you have not yet attended one required Zoom Information Session, please sign up by going to our Vaccine volunteers web page under "Resources for Community Ambassador Volunteers".
2) After you attend the Information Session, update the "Qualifications" section of your Volunteer Center account. Instructions are here. NOTE: This system will not allow you to register for any outreach event without completing steps 1) and 2).
