Spanish Speaking Community Ambassadors Needed to Promote Immediate Walk-Up Vaccine Availability at Saturday and Sunday Lake Forest Mall Vaccination Clinic
On Saturday, May 22, from 10am - 2pm, the County will be hosting a Lake Forest Mall Vaccine Clinic Neighborhood Outreach Event at Cider Mills Apartments, 18205 Lost Knife Road, Gaithersburg, MD 20886. Volunteers will promote the immediate walk-up availability of vaccines on Saturday and Sunday at the neighboring Lake Forest Mall Vaccination Clinic. In teams of two, volunteers will canvass the Cider Mills Apartments (and possibly other close by complexes) sharing information about the Clinic, or leaving door hangers, so that every unvaccinated resident has the opportunity to receive a vaccine right then and there.
Our goal is to encourage everyone we meet who is not vaccinated to do so right away at this convenient current FEMA mobile clinic, provide information, and answer vaccine-related questions. To ensure safe interactions, staff will practice social distancing, wear masks, use hand sanitizer, and rely on materials with QR codes. We are looking for a total of 8 Spanish Speaking volunteers to join our team.

Background:
Covid has disproportionately affected certain communities within Montgomery County. At the same time, these areas where Covid rates are the highest are where vaccination rates are the lowest. Barriers include accessibility, technology, hesitancy, limited English proficiency, isolation, and disinformation or conflicting messaging. That's why in-person outreach in underserved communities is still needed to inform residents and assist them with getting the vaccine. We need to get the ENTIRE County vaccinated!

1) If you have not yet attended one required Zoom Information Session, please sign up by going to our Vaccine volunteers web page under "Resources for Community Ambassador Volunteers".
2) After you attend the Information Session, update the "Qualifications" section of your Volunteer Center account. Instructions are here. NOTE: This system will not allow you to register for any outreach event without completing steps 1) and 2).
