CDI is looking for professionals to serve as virtual mentors to our current College Scholars!

CDI Mentors will serve as an integral resource and support system as scholars work towards graduation, prepare for the workforce, and secure employment.
CDI Mentors are an integral resource and support system as Scholars work towards graduation, prepare for the workforce, and secure employment. As experienced professionals and thoughtful leaders, mentors volunteer their time to assist in the growth and development of our Scholars.
As a CDI mentor, you will use CDI Connect, our online platform, to:
- Empower the next generation by sharing your knowledge and experiences
- Serve as a resource to first-generation, low-income students
- Build your leadership and interpersonal skills
- Share resources, jobs, and internship opportunities
- Connect with CDI Scholars virtually from any location

CDI offers two mentorship opportunities:
- Spark Mentors are available for one-time mentoring meeting requests from any college Scholar. Spark Mentors are able to set their availability, number of meetings per month, and industry/help topics of expertise. Expected Time Commitment: Varies based off your commitment
- Direct Mentors are strategically matched with a college Scholar for a one-to-one mentoring experience. Direct Mentors are committed to checking in with their matched scholar at least twice a month to discuss goals and work through professional development tasks.
- Expected Time Commitment: 6 hours per month
Eligibility
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Value higher education and have at least a bachelor’s degree
- Have an appreciation for cultural diversity and an ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds
- Enjoy working with college students
- Commit to the academic school year (present – June)
- Pass volunteer background check
Application Process
- Complete the online application and start the volunteer background check
- Schedule a quick 20-minute call
- Attend the virtual orientation on September 9, 2021
