The Wheaton Volunteer Rescue Squad is looking for student assistance unloading our Christmas tree truck again this year. We are a non-profit volunteer fire/rescue organization serving Wheaton and the surrounding areas of Montgomery County. Additional information about the fire/rescue service will be provided as part of the learning experience (hand out).
Our trees are now supposed to arrive Sunday 11/21/21 at 8am. They did not honor our first requested time for Friday 5pm so sorry if any of you cannot come Saturday. As soon as I get a time certain, I will email it out, and you can unregister if you can't come Saturday.
This involves some medium lifting where a Christmas tree will be dropped down from a tractor trailer and needs to be carried about 100 yards and stacked up. There are 750 trees arriving, and if we get a good turnout in only takes 2-3 hours.
The location is Wheaton Volunteer Rescue Squad, 2400 Arcola Ave in Wheaton. Park and be dropped off and picked up in the Ballroom parking lot next to the station.
Work gloves will be provided.
Student participation in this service project is at the discretion of the student’s parent/guardian and must be completed outside of school hours. The nonprofit organization is responsible for maintaining student safety. Parents/guardians should contact the nonprofit directly with any questions and/or concerns.
