Girls on the Run (GOTR) is a physical activity-based positive youth development (PA-PYD) program that combines physical activity such as training for a 5K with an interactive curriculum targeting the promotion of competence, confidence, connection, character, caring, and contribution. The specialized 10-week programming is delivered by trained volunteer coaches who mentor girls in grades 3-8 with a curriculum that strengthens their social, emotional, physical, and behavioral skills to help them successfully navigate their life experiences. At the culmination of the program, GOTR hosts a non-competitive 5K run to reinforce the seasons' teachings. We want every girl to cross the finish line with confidence and a feeling of accomplishment but moreover, a smile on her face.
Thank you for volunteering with Girls on the Run. As more than 1700 girls from across our area come together to achieve their goals at the 5K, they depend on volunteers like you to help them shine. The 5K race will be held on Sunday, May 22 at the Westfield Montgomery Mall, located in the northeast parking lot across the street from Home Depot. We anticipate over 3400 runners at our Spring 5K. GOTR MoCo is committed to assigning volunteers to their preferred volunteer assignment however volunteers may be re-assigned to accommodate other needs.
