KindWorks is bringing you together with others to provide ready-made meals to migrant families temporarily living in a Gaithersburg hotel.

Before you sign up, please be sure that you can make the drop-off date of Monday, November 7th, 2022 (anytime between 1pm - 6pm) at the Epworth UMC – 9008 Rosemont Drive in Gaithersburg,MD.

The PLAN

  • MAKE a casserole of your choosing. (We will suggest a recipe each time, for those who prefer not to have to decide, or like to try something new!)  You can also make some KindBananaBread, PumpkinBread or ZucchiniBread – please mark your ingredients!
  • Enjoy some for your own dinner.
  • FREEZE at least 4 servings in single-serving plastic containers. Label each container with: date, your first name and last initial, what you made , and mark it with any relevant food info including common allergens  or preferences.  (Use the template below to print KindWorks labels off your own printer – 6 to a page labels needed for this template).
  • DELIVER the frozen servings to the Epworth UMC  – 9008 Rosemont Drive in Gaithersburg; ON MONDAY November 7th between 1pm-6pm.

MCPS Students can get SSL hours: 2 SSL Hours = 4 single casserole servings or 4 mini-loaves of Banana Bread.  Each sign-up is a commitment to make 4 single servings (you can sign up more than once and make more than 4 servings but NOTE that MCPS allows no more than 8 SSL hours in a 24 hour period). To receive SSL credit you will need to submit your SSL volunteer service using this form: KindWorks SSL Google Form

Student participation in this service project is at the discretion of the student’s parent/guardian. The nonprofit organization is responsible for maintaining student safety and privacy at any time the student is interacting with the nonprofit and its clients. The nonprofit organization will determine the number of SSL hours awarded based on the evidence submitted. Parents/guardians should contact the nonprofit directly with any questions and/or concerns. This service activity is designed to be completed within the safety of the student’s home.
