**OPPORTUNITY FOR CLARKSBURG RESIDENTS AND NEIGHBORS**
What to help make a new gathering space and cafe a reality for all Clarksburg Residents?
We've dreamed for years of a place for Clarksburg residents and their neighbors to gather to BE together, BE known, BE seen, BE served, and BE loved in our very own community. After years of dreaming, we are taking the steps to make it a reality!
The Clarksburg Yard will be an outdoor venue and cafe located along the 355 bike path, just north of Clarksburg High School, at 22820 Frederick Road, 20871.
We are looking for Clarksburg residents and neighbors of all ages to join us for a groundbreaking event where they will have an opportunity to participate in the planning and design process.
The groundbreaking will take place from 11:30am-1:00pm on Sunday, December 4th. During the first half of the event, participants will have an opportunity to enjoy a FREE soup lunch, while engaging in various activities and polls designed to provide feedback and share their hopes and visions for the outdoor space.
We are particularly interested in having students attend so we can get the perspective of many middle and high school students.
This feedback will be given to Nature Sacred, our design partner, who has selected The Clarksburg Yard as their newest community partner and “Sacred Place.” According to Nature Sacred, a Sacred Place has the goal “to reconnect people with nature in ways that foster mindful reflection, restore mental health, and strengthen communities.”
At 12:30, we will have a formal ceremony to plant the first new tree for The Clarksburg Yard. Each participant will have an opportunity to place soil on the tree and declare a hope that they have for those who come to use this future space.
***This event is entirely secular in nature and community focused.***
