WANT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE?
You’re invited to MLK Day of Service 2023 at Journey's Crossing
On Monday, January 16, 2023, Montgomery County will celebrate the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service by working together throughout the county. We will join with thousands of Americans across the country who will celebrate the national holiday honoring the life and work of Dr. King by doing service in their communities.
One of Montgomery County's service event opportunities to serve and care for our community will take place at Journey's Crossing Church in Germantown. Journey's Crossing is partnering with Feed the Children, Germantown Help, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, and other local partners.
1. We will host a distribution center to “Feed the Children” for 200 families in Germantown. This will require adults and teens willing to manage the weather that day (looking good currently) to stage and distribute goods for a drive-through pick up boxes of sustainable food, hygiene products, and additional products.
2. We will also provide service projects indoors from 10AM-1PM. Service projects include family friendly activities such as decorating cards, making small craft projects, and assembling care kits for people in need. Indoor projects will include:
-cards and notes for first responders at the local fire and police stations
-banners for local schools
-small yarn craft for homeless women & heart-notes for elderly
-we will prepare goody bags for local first responders and teachers
If you are signing up for yourself and additional people (school group, family, etc.), please click the "Respond as Group" registration option (this option will be open for a limited time).
Once you sign up, you are confirmed as a volunteer. No further action is needed.
