Tax-Aide Counselors assist Montgomery County clients with federal and state (MD) tax preparation free of charge, using IRS provided software. This is a great opportunity for those who are detail-oriented and like to interact with people. Training classes are held in January and you work with an experienced Mentor. Volunteers prepare taxes for clients at least one day a week throughout tax season. Required: good computer skills, competent keyboard skills, very good communication skills, willingness to listen patiently and with interest in what the client is saying in sometimes stressful situations.
