Get outside to help the community and assist with the “Explore Gaithersburg” trail mapping project & park clean ups. The Gaithersburg Parks, Arts & Recreation Corporation (G-PARC) invites you to use your cellphone to help map trails and/or pick up trash at three local parks on Monday, January 15.
The Gaithersburg Parks, Arts, and Recreation Corporation (G-PARC) continues its efforts to map the trails in the City, and has planned a family-friendly outdoor activity during MLK Days of Service that will include:
- Clean-up of the parks: volunteers will pick up trash along the trails of Griffith Park, History Park and Olde Towne Plaza. Trash bags, pick-up sticks and gloves will be provided.
- Trail Mapping: volunteers will map the trails in and between Griffith and History Parks and Olde Towne Plaza. Volunteers will need a cell phone and walking shoes.
Those under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Meet at Griffith Park, 29 S. Summit Avenue. SSL hour forms will be available. Register by sending your name and the number of people (and ages if under 18) attending to gparcinc1@gmail.com. Advance registration is requested for this Family-Friendly activity. SSL hours are available. Please print, sign and bring the attached indemnification form with you and we will collect them when you arrive.

Student participation in this service project is at the discretion of the student’s parent/guardian and must be completed outside of school hours. The nonprofit organization is responsible for maintaining student safety. Parents/guardians should contact the nonprofit directly with any questions and/or concerns.
