Wheaton is walking to celebrate art, its diverse cultures, and its designation as an Arts & Entertainment District. On September 29, the parade and festival feature floats, music, dance, and more than 50 booths of artists selling their original art.

Wheaton Arts Parade needs volunteers to help throughout the day. All volunteers will receive a free t-shirt and a coupon towards the purchase of food and/or drink from one of the festival vendors.

The parade and festival begin at 10am. The parade is from 10am until about 12pm. The festival runs until 5pm.

Volunteers are needed as early as 7am to help with set up and as late as 7 pm to help with break down. A minimum of 3 hours is required for all volunteers. We need more volunteers for the first and last shifts than mid-day.

The main tasks that volunteers need to be do for the parade (7am-12pm):
- Assist setting up the assembly areas.
- Assist check-in
- Assist participants getting to their assigned assembly area
- Assist pulling floats to their designated spot
- Pull a float in the parade
- Position the floats around the festival area after the parade
- Collect things left at the assembly area
- Return floats to storage area (5pm-7pm)

The main tasks that volunteers need to do for the festival:
- Assist setting up the festival area, hang vendor booth signs (7am-10am)
- Assist check-in vendors (7am-10am)
- Assist artists getting artwork to their tents (7am-10am)
- Assist stage managers at the 3 performance areas including hanging stage banners (11am-5pm)
- Help run the "Kids Zone" with arts and craft activities for families (10am-5pm)


-We held a 90 minute orientation session on September 15th. Volunteers will select their shifts after the orientation. Otherwise you will do so via EMAIL.

Student participation in this service project is at the discretion of the student’s parent/guardian and must be completed outside of school hours. The nonprofit organization is responsible for maintaining student safety. Parents/guardians should contact the nonprofit directly with any questions and/or concerns.
