Join the Gardening Team & plant and maintain gardens at Inwood House. In this role, volunteers will help cultivate grounds that are well-cared for and welcoming. Volunteers who enjoy being outdoors, working with their hands, engaging with residents and educating residents on gardening, and being creative will thrive in this role.
COMMITMENT This position has flexible hours, and we will work with your schedule. Having one consistent day/time per week to assist in the gardens and assist the residents with gardening is preferred.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Perform gardening duties including weeding, digging, pruning, planting, sweeping paths, poisoning weeds, cleaning, general repairs and ad hoc duties as assigned.
2. Help maintain the gardens and grounds in good condition together with various displays of plants.
3. Assist with planning and development of garden and grounds.
4. Maintain herbs, fruits and vegetable garden and harvest herbs, fruits and vegetables when ready.
Student participation in this service project is at the discretion of the student’s parent/guardian and must be completed outside of school hours. The nonprofit organization is responsible for maintaining student safety. Parents/guardians should contact the nonprofit directly with any questions and/or concerns.
