Friendly Visitor: 1-on-1 socialization visits to a senior clients’ home done at least twice a month. Volunteer will need to email brief, few sentence reports to both volunteer coordinator and the clients’ care manager after visits.
Tech Tutor: 1-on-1 socialization visits to a senior client’s home to provide basic lessons on how to use smartphone, computer, tablet, or Uniper. Volunteer emails brief, few sentence reports to both volunteer coordinator and the clients’ care manager after visits.
Our current open requests are:
1. Seeking a Russian-speaking volunteer for both in-person Friendly Visitor & Tech Tutor services at the client’s home. The 85-year-old client lives in Rockville, MD (zip code 20852). The client speaks Russian and very little English, so the volunteer must speak Russian well. The client reads often and enjoys writing. The client’s interests include health and nutrition. The client is a Holocaust survivor.
2. Seeking a female, English-speaking volunteer for in-person friendly visits at the client’s home. 85-year-old client lives in Reston VA (zip code 20190). Client likes literature, philosophy, the Bible, history, tech news and innovations. Client used to be an engineer in the former Soviet Union, likes physics and math. Client is a Holocaust survivor.
3. Seeking a female, Russian-speaking volunteer who also speaks English for in-person friendly visits at the client’s home. 86-year-old client lives in Reston, VA (zip code 20191). Client has dementia and memory issues. Client is a Holocaust survivor. Client likes conversations, classical music, ballet, Uniper (virtual engagement). The client speaks both English and Russian.
