Small Things Matter does a variety of things in our community with our food, literacy, and crafting programs. We will be celebrating kindness for humans and animals in honor of Tommy Raskin in his hometown of Takoma Park.
There will be various kindness activities benefitting local charities that support people as well as animals for families and individuals of all ages to participate in, collections at PBES on the day of the event, local businesses offering in-store kindness events.

10am-10:30 am SETUP, 10:30am-1:00pm event, 1pm-1:30pm CLEANUP
We are looking for MS/HS students to come out and help at the activities as well as participate in the kindness activities being hosted by the various groups. SSL hours will be awarded (1 SSL hour for each hour spent at Kindness Day).
We would love to have more groups join in hosting activities at PBES and businesses either hosting in-store kindness events or making in-kind donations for the raffle. If your group would like to host an activity at PBES please contact me.
Middle school and high school students are eligible to earn SSL hours by working onsite at Kindness Day. Community service hours are also available.

Do I need to sign up? Please send an email to thesmallthingsmatter@yahoo.com if you can. If you decide to join us last minute that's fine too, but knowing ahead of time will help us plan.

Is this approved for MCPS SSL hours - YES.

How will I receive my SSL hours? You will receive your MCPS SSL form onsite when you volunteer. If you go to a different school then please bring a filled out form and I will sign it at the end of your shift.

We are helping over 2000 families in Montgomery County by providing food assistance and are very busy and trying to limit emails about this opportunity. Thanks for understanding!!!

Student participation in this service project is at the discretion of the student’s parent/guardian and must be completed outside of school hours.
