Become a historian for the day! Help museum staff transcribe historical documents and make information searchable and accessible for researchers. This opportunity is appropriate for ages 13 and up.
Sessions are offered over Zoom at the following times. Volunteers may register for one or both sessions. Museum staff will attend and answer questions.
Session 1: 1:00-3:00pm
Session 2: 3:30-5:30pm
This Transcribe-a-Thon event will focus on documents containing information about Black community members in Sandy Spring.
Student volunteers: Student volunteers may earn SSL hours. Please review our guidelines for student participation and submit a signed permission slip before the date of any Transcribe-a-Thon event in which you plan to participate.

Transcribe-a-thon is a monthly virtual program giving students and community members an opportunity to explore Sandy Spring history and contribute to the care of our community’s historical records.
