The Rockville Bike Hub partners with the City of Rockville to provide children’s bicycles for Rockville’s Terrific Citizens Bike Award Program. The elementary aged school children who are awarded these bikes are being recognized for the good works they have completed in their family, school, or community. The bikes are donated throughout the year and in March and April we invite volunteers to help us prepare these bikes for the award winners.
Weather permitting, we will be meeting each weekend at the Rockville Civic Center Park to work outdoors cleaning and repairing the bikes. No experience is necessary, we will help you learn minor repair tasks. If you can pump up tires or use a rag, there will be something for you to do. Spend as much, or as little time as you can. Any help will be appreciated. We will be doing work at the storage bay that the City has allowed us to use. The storage bay is located in the Rockville Civic Center Park, in the City buildings behind the mansion, at the bottom of the hill, across from the tennis courts.
We welcome children and teens ages 11-17 year olds to volunteer, but ask that they be accompanied by an adult. This is a great opportunity for families to work together to serve the community.
