Thanks for being interested in volunteering at the KIDfest (formerly Maker Faire Silver Spring) on Sunday, September 23, 2018. We have positions available for adults and for teenagers.
The festival features innovative Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math projects created by inventors, hackers, crafters, artists, and do-it-yourselfers of all kinds. Projects can range from robotics and electronics, to metal-working and larger than life interactive artwork. The goal of the festival is to demonstrate creative and unusual pursuits, in order to inspire others to explore their own curiosity and to make something new and different.
We need volunteers to help with setting up the festival site, and clean-up, as well as help during the festival day with running activities. There are three volunteer shifts from 8:00am-11:30am; 11am-3pm; 2:30pm-6:00pm. Volunteers are welcome to work more than one shift. We particularly need assistance for the morning shift for set-up and for break-down.
Our volunteers are important to us and we will try to make the experience as fun for you as possible. The volunteer coordinator will assign you to whatever need is most pressing during the festival. When you check-in let the volunteer coordinator know if you have any physical limitations or don’t want to be doing a specific task.
Check-in for KIDfest (formerly Silver Spring Maker Faire) volunteers will be in the building, on the second floor near the elevators.
Dress appropriately for the weather. If it is raining – wear a raincoat. It could be hot. Wear sunscreen and sneakers (or other very comfortable shoes).
