Spend Yourself Food Pantry is a well-established program of Columbia Baptist Church that provides food assistance to people in need. Almost all of those coming to Spend Yourself on Saturday mornings are immigrants; training is provided; this is a good opportunity to engage with people directly; and you do not need to bring food yourself. This opportunity is meant for International Students, both MCPS and not, looking to complete their Student Service Learning hours. Expect to "take orders" from clients, for food that is already stocked and available. Volunteers bag groceries after taking orders. Later, we'll help to restock shelves.
If you are an adult looking to engage with the community through volunteer opportunities, please send us an email and we will keep you posted for our adult-friendly volunteer opportunities.
We will meet at 8:00 am at English Now!, 4963 Elm Street, Suite 300, Bethesda MD, for an orientation about food security and how organizations like Spend Youself serve the community. Transportation will be provided to head over to the Spend Yourself Food Pantry in Falls Church, VA, to volunteer. We'll be done by 12:00pm, and you can leave earlier if necessary.
Please provide your CELLPHONE NUMBER, school, and grade level in the note section when you register to volunteer.
