Women of all faiths are invited to come together in sisterhood and service. Various projects will be ongoing either putting together hygiene kits for Days for Girls, sorting food donations, or preparing quilts for Project Linus at 18900 Kingsview Road in Germantown. A separate group of women will be sorting clothing at the Interfaith Work Clothing Center at 751 Twinbrook Parkway.
Young Women are welcome and can earn SSL hours for their participation! If you can sew, come and join us!
Lunch will be provided.
-We need 40 women to sort clothing. Sign up at rem.ax/March23DayofService
-We are also taking donations for the hygiene kits. All material will go to Days for Girls-Frederick: girls' underwear, sizes 8 - 16, washcloths (the cheap kind -- thin is best for quick drying), Ziplock brand gallon freezer bags, 100% cotton fabric, and 100% cotton flannel (all fabric in bright or dark colors (mottled, botanical, geometric, etc to hide stains). We can also use grosgrain ribbon, 5/8" wide (no white or beige)
-Food donations will go St Martin's Food Pantry. They are in desperate need of canned soup, pasta sauce, pasta, canned vegetables, canned tuna, canned beans, boxed macaroni & cheese, dried potatoes, dried rice, dried beans, canned fruit, dried soup, unsweetened breakfast cereal, cooking oil up to 14oz bottles, peanut butter & jelly, cookies and crackers, powdered milk, potatoes, apples, oranges, personal hygiene products and paper products, Numbers 1 and 2 baby food, and baby formula (please, no larger than one pound package to facilitate distribution), and disposable diapers especially sizes 5 and 6.
