Volunteers will work 1-on-1 with students in the Catholic Charities Bank Teller Certification Program. The students are primarily speakers of languages other than English and are relatively recent legal immigrants to the United States. The students are looking for help refining their resumes in the American style so they can get good jobs and support their families.
Volunteers will:
- Receive a briefing from Catholic Charities staff before the event
- Use a computer (provided) and a resume review checklist
- Work with students 1-on-1 to refine his or her draft resume
- Give feedback to students and suggest edits on their resumes
Volunteers should be comfortable using a computer, be strong writers with a good command of "resume appropriate language", be fluent in English, and (preferably) have experience working in a customer service profession. Volunteers must be 21 years or older.
The resume review workshop will take place at the Catholic Charities Spanish Catholic Center in Columbia Heights, (1618 Monroe St NW, Washington, DC 20010).
