Hi!
I need some adult and student help for the Difference Makers Kokua Foods distribution this Sunday, April 21 at Rolling Terrace Elementary School (705 Bayfield St, Silver Spring, MD 20903).
Setup begins at 10am, distributions at 12:30 - 1:30pm, and cleanup till 2pm.
We will be giving out approximately 3000 lbs of food to food insecure families in the Takoma Park/Silver Spring community.
Small Things Matter will also be there giving out new books and reading to the children. We could use additional support here as well.
Eligible volunteers will earn SSL hours for their help.
If any of you would like to volunteer in the future to pickup food (drivers needed), setup/cleanup, and/or distribute food please contact me at rayamashita@yahoo.com. This is a perfect opportunity for high schoolers or families to get involved in service. Yes, children of all ages can go behind the scenes to grocery stores to help harvest food. 40% of all food grown in America is wasted. We can fix that and help those in need. :)
Thanks!
Roxanne
