Silver Spring Thursday Night 2019Silver Spring, an Arts & Entertainment District, is seeking volunteers to help with the set-up, running, and clean-up of the Silver Spring Thursday Night Concerts on Veterans Plaza. Volunteers should be friendly, outgoing, and able to move up to 40lb. Volunteers are needed from 5:30-9:30pm. Once you have signed-up, you are confirmed to attend. Dress appropriately for the hot weather. Meet on the second floor of the Silver Spring Civic Building near the elevators. Let the front desk know that you are here for the summer concerts and they will direct you to the proper staff. Silver Spring’s Thursday night Summer Concerts are a perfect, free night out for the whole family. You can groove to the tunes on long summer nights while your kids enjoy games and face painting. Silver Spring’s long running and popular Thursday Night Concerts kickoff on June 20 - August 8 with a mix of crowd favorites and new offerings in the Silver Spring Season. The concert series features a raffle with free prizes for adults as well as toys and gifts for kids. JUNE 20 – THE BACK PAGES BAND (60S/70S TRIBUTE) The Back Pages Band performs classic songs from the Golden Decade of Rock (1963-1973). The audience will sing along to tunes from the Beach Boys, Bee Gees, The Monkees, The Rolling Stones, Neil Diamond, Jimmy Buffet and more. The five band members have played with famous DC and Baltimore bands including Butler's Orchard, Crusader Rabbit, Summer, Love Riot, The Last Picture Show and the Kennedys.
JUNE 27 – JOSH CHRISTINA (ROCKABILLY) Baltimore based rockabilly artist, Josh Christina, is a just a good ol' American country boy who has spent the past 15 years honing his sound - a combination of the country, classic rock, big band, and rockabilly he was raised on.
JULY 11 – ROUTE 66 BAND (CLASSIC ROCK, COUNTRY) Route 66, also known as Club 66, plays jams that will get the audience pumped! They play everything from rock and roll, classic rock, blues, Motown, boogie woogie, and old school country.
JULY 18- MARC BERGER BAND (AMERICAN ROOTS) Marc Berger performs American roots music, a smattering of folk, country, blues, and rock ’n’ roll. He plays guitar, harmonica and sings, along with writing his own songs. Marc’s performed at Austin’s South by Southwest Music Festival and The Kerrville and Falcon Ridge Folk Festivals and has opened shows for Bob Dylan and other national acts.
JULY 25- MOCO’S GOT TALENT (VARIETY) MoCo’s Got Talent is a Montgomery countywide talent competition for middle and high school students to showcase their artistry in the visual and performing arts. Finalists will present their winning musical performances.
AUGUST 1 - THE HITTIME REVUE FEATURING JIMI SMOOTH (R&B, SOUL) Serving as the leader singer for the Jimi Smooth Band, Jimi Smooth also known as “Mr. Move & Groove” is the consummate showman. His electrifying performance is high energy and to “get up and boogie” music.
AUGUST 8 –MOTOWN SOUL (SOUL CRACKERS) The Soul Crackers take some of the greatest party music from artists like Sam and Dave, Otis Redding, Average White Band, Martha and the Vandellas, James Brown, and Tower of Power and make it their own. Expect to dance the night away! |
